Accelence : the single point of contact for the support and the development of Bordeaux University Hospital industry-sponsored clinical research
Since June the 1st, 2016, Bordeaux University Hospital has set up a new organization for the conduct of industry sponsored clinical trials in conjunction with ACCELENCE. Since more than 5 years, ACCELENCE has demonstrated its expertise in the field of the support to clinical investigation and its proactivity, resulting in an enhanced attractiveness of the Bordeaux University Hospital for the conduct of national and international industry sponsored clinical trials.
The Bordeaux University Hospital now positions ACCELENCE as its single point of contact for the implementation and the follow up of industry’s sponsored clinical trials.
1st Scientific & Industrial Committee – ACCELENCE Bordeaux Clinical Research Network
On September 9th 2011, ACCELENCE BORDEAUX CLINICAL RESEARCH NETWORK (BCRN) held the first Scientific & Industrial Committee at the Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
40 industry representatives (of wich 11 large pharmaceutical laboratoires and 4 international CROs), 30 key opinion leaders in numerous fields of expertise as well as dozen delegates from innovation support organizations attended this event, and event that also marked the launch and recognition of a first in public/private partnerships in Europe, an organizational innovation serving scientific and medical innovation.
On the same occasion, ACCELENCE BCRN, its founding members and QUINTILES signed a “PRIME SITE” partnership-agreement.
Bordeaux University awarded the “Initiative for Excellence”

In July 2011, the Bordeaux Segalen University was awarded the national call for projects « Initiative for excellence » and obtained significant funding for the setup of a Hospital/University Institute dedicated to electrical cardiac diseases, two laboratories for excellence in the fields of inter- and multidisciplinary research in bio-imaging and neuroscience and an infrastructure for cellular photonic and electronic bio-imaging.

The Bordeaux University Hospital has collaborated with Inserm and the Bordeaux Segalen University to efficiently structure the transfer of technological innovation in the field of biomaterials. The result obtained following the latest Inserm/Ministry of Health evaluation, performed at the end of 2009, is a reward for the work carried out as well as strong encouragement for the future.
